Trenchless Pipe Repair in Riverside County: What Homeowners Need to Know

Trenchless pipe repair lets us fix broken or deteriorated sewer and water lines without digging up your yard, driveway, or landscaping. Here's how it works and when it makes sense.

Traditional pipe repair meant digging a trench — sometimes the entire length of your yard, through driveways, or under landscaping you've spent years building. Trenchless technology changed that. We can now repair or replace broken sewer and water lines with minimal excavation, preserving your property while solving the problem permanently.

What Is Trenchless Pipe Repair?

Trenchless pipe repair is an umbrella term for two main methods: pipe lining and pipe bursting. Both require only small access points rather than a full trench along the pipe's length.

Pipe Lining (CIPP — Cured-in-Place Pipe)

A flexible liner coated with epoxy resin is fed into the damaged pipe and inflated. Once cured (hardened), it forms a new pipe-within-a-pipe that is smooth, seamless, and resistant to root intrusion. It restores full flow capacity and has a 50-year service life.

Pipe Bursting

A bursting head is pulled through the old pipe, fracturing it outward while simultaneously pulling new HDPE pipe into position. This is ideal when the old pipe is too deteriorated to line, or when you want to upsize the pipe diameter at the same time.

When Trenchless Is the Right Choice

  • Sewer line bellying, cracking, or root infiltration
  • Cast iron drain lines corroding from the inside (common in pre-1980 homes)
  • Slab leaks where opening the concrete is a last resort
  • Pipes under driveways, patios, or mature landscaping
  • Pipes beneath concrete flooring inside the home
  • Commercial properties where downtime must be minimized

When Traditional Excavation Is Needed

Trenchless isn't always possible. If the pipe has completely collapsed with no access path, if there are offset joints that block the equipment, or if local soil or pipe conditions don't allow it, traditional excavation is the right approach. We always do a video inspection first so we can give you the honest answer before committing to a method.

Pro Tip: Many homeowners in Inland Empire cities like Redlands, Fontana, and Riverside have cast iron sewer lines from the 1960s–1980s. These lines corrode from the inside and accumulate scale over decades. Trenchless lining is often the most cost-effective solution before total failure occurs.
